Spring Fashion Trends for Women – 2014

Ladies, start here for the latest Spring fashion trends – we’ve rounded up some of the hottest pieces to add to your warmer wardrobe for 2014. We’re forecasting a lot of patterns this season, from stripes, to plaid and oversized floral. Effortless boho is still as popular as ever, try to incorporate some fringing and tassles to your outfit for that natural, Pocahontas look that we love for Spring and Summer. We’re also seeing a return of the 80’s kitten heel (yay for the feet!), which is perfect for day to night looks – appropriate for workwear and 100% on-trend for a night of dancing.

The kitten heel is not new; it was first abundant in the late 1950’s, a safe option for younger girls and traditionalists. Then came the real popularity of the kitten heel in the 80’s and 90’s, in pale colours with a pointed toe. In 2014, we’re impressed by the top designer’s new take on the 80’s heel, still age appropriate for everyone and stunning paired with the 80’s culottes, also making a comeback!

No matter what your shape or size, there is a cold shoulder shirt for you. This 80’s style is sexy without being inappropriate. The cold shoulder tip comes in many fabrics and styles, so you can rock the look day or night. We’re loving the off-shoulder crops at Portmans this fashion season, available in a vibrant watermelon, classic black or the on-trend monotone stripes. One of each, please!

Fringing can give a formal outfit Gatsby glam – from chic skirts to cocktail dresses, the fringe can add a bit of movement to an otherwise plain outfit to ensure you are not missed at the party. In the best way. And for the casual weekends and holidays, who doesn’t love unleashing their boho babe. From interesting tasselled bags to jackets and of course jewellery pieces, you can embrace your inner Pocahontas with a fringe.

After the darkness of the winter months, spring and summer fashion trends include florals in some way, year after year. This year we’re seeing florals being screen printed as technology allows us to embrace the most realistic representations of flowers we have ever seen. Less is no longer more, as vivid prints and detailed, blown-up blooms are key for any woman willing to brighten up her life.

Rewind to the 90’s and picture the fabulous Elle from Clueless, in her mustard tartan co-ordinates. Whether checkered, tartan, or houndstooth, we recommend you pick up at least one plaid piece to transition you from Autumn/Winter to Spring fashion. We’re loving clashing patterns, still, so why not match your plaid pants with some snakeskin pumps or a floral shirt. Be bold, fashion is fun!

#TURNHEADS this spring with stripes. They are literally everywhere and flattering as ever. Gone are the days where women were frowned upon because stripes make you look more round – our brands are getting clever with the placement and direction of stripes so you feel (and look) slim, on-trend and put together.
